In the E/1/2 race, Peter Hansford cycles was represented by Harry, Andy, Mike and Myself with Ollie having TT'ed earlier in the evening (unfortunately having a fall after the finish line- we wish him a speedy recovery). The race was pressured from the start with all of us in the mix however this was soon neutralised as a crash slowed everything down, on the up side all the Hansford boys were still rubber side down!
I soon managed to get away with Rowan Horner (VC St Raphael) and eventually gained a lap on the field however a group of around 7 including Andy had also jumped off the front of the group and were hot on our heels- Harry, Mike and Rowan helped drive the pace to bring the group back however gaps were opening in the bunch and the chase never really gained momentum. Rowan managed to ride off the front with Harry and another ride with myself missing the move and spending a long time in no-mans land. This trio went on to gain a lap as well as the other groups gaining a lap. So Rowan was now the only man 2 laps up on the field and drove the chase to bring me back into the bunch! There were now around 10 riders a lap up on the field as well so I was gutted to have missed to move to gain 2 laps however Andy and Harry had done well to put themselves in contention! Come the sprint it was scrappy and with tired legs I sprinted to take 6th with Andy 7th and Harry 8th I think.
Gutted to have messed it up with the guys helping out the drive the pace at the right times for me. I can learn from this and gain valuable experience.
Ride safe
