Mountbatten 23rd May

The sun has finally arrived......
And with my last uni exam finishing yesterday I once again decided to ride the 125km to London and enjoy the sun, only this meant I had 125 km already in the legs the morning of this evenings race. That being said once the race started I felt ok! For Peter Hansford RT we had myself, Ollie and Mike racing this evening in the E/1/2, with Brook and Niall in the 3/4 race.
The long and short of the E/1/2 race is that we rode well with a small team and covered most of the dangerous attacks bringing back anything that we didn't want to go up the road. Ollie gave it a good crack with a few laps to go but nevertheless it came down to a bunch kick. With 25m to go I had happily secured 3rd place behind Jay Eastwood (Primera-specialized) and Justin Hoy (Felt RT) however my cleat broke and my foot came flying out the pedal. Although annoyed with myself as I knew they were worn, in retrospect I am just happy to not have bought anyone down and of course to have stayed upright myself. I think I rolled across the line trying to clip in for around 6th or 7th. Unfortunately I don't know anyone else's positions however photos and results will be up soon so check back for more!
New shoes and cleats asap for me!
Ride safe
Phill
