Back on the bike, Back on the blog!!!

Anyone who has enough spare time to regularly read this blog will realise that not only do I write a whole load of rubbish half the time but also that I have been gone for a while.
6 weeks ago I had my first crash during a race, after many hours in A&E and thanks to many great people helping me out I finally got home at 0400 the day after the race tired and battered. Assessing the injuries the next morning I had a hole in my elbow down to the bone, lots of other road race, a couple of broken ribs, smashed up hip and some pretty sore shoulder!
Despite this I tried to race just 1 week later, this was a huge mistake as once in the winning break I was turning black and blue as my ribs dug in and my whole chest tightened up, needless to say I didn't last long, pulled out of the race and dragged my sorry ass back to the sofa! (Thanks to mike for lending me a bike for this race). I didn't realise at the time but my pains were to stop me from racing for another month.
6 weeks on and I am back racing having got 2 solid weeks of training in, despite this I am still having issues with both shoulders and my hip which makes sprinting pretty much impossible.  I never thought I would be so happy to take a 4th place from a break at mountbatten but that is exactly what I did this week and I hope that this is the start to a productive end of season!
I cannot thank Mark and the boys at Peter Hansford Cycles enough for all they have done to get me back on the road after I managed to destroy the front end of a lovely team bike. I would also like to thank Dan Stephens for the ride to A&E and also Tim and Sue Knight along with Ant for getting my car and bike back to Portsmoth following the accident. Without the support of my friends that night I would probably have been a right old state.
Putting that behind me I am ready to train and race hard to try and salvage something from this season and push myself into some decent winter training which will come around all too soon!

Ride safe
P
